I think there is a danger that US Treasury bonds might fall in price a lot. Because the US government is planning to issue an awful lot of new Treasury Bonds. And if the supply of bonds outstrips the demand in the bond market. Then prices will fall.

People who used to buy a lot of US Treasury Bonds now don’t have as much money to buy them with as before. This includes the Chinese, the Japanese, and the oil producing countries. And it’s not clear to me who exactly has enough money and is willing to buy all those new US Treasury Bonds that the US government is planning to issue and sell?

They are not a good investment. General Motors bonds offer 9% interest but there is a chance that GM will go out of business next month and bondholders will be wiped out.
US Treasury bonds are safe but not a good investment since they pay less than 1% interest. That is not a good investment..
